Client Styling Guide
Picking what to wear to your photo session can sometimes be overwhelming.
Getting your outfit combinations perfect plays a huge part in how your final images will turn out, so we want to get it right!
Remember, I am here to help! Don't be shy to send me through pics of your outfit choices before the session so we can go over the best options or make some change ups if we need to.
In General....
Comfort: It is so important that you still feel comfortable in what you're wearing! I want to be able to capture your authentic self - not wearing something so far out of your comfort zone you can't relax or you feel like you need to keep 'fixing' your outfit.
Colours: Make sure the colour scheme you work with compliments each other, try stick with only a few colours for everyone who's attending the session, the bigger the group the LESS amount of different colours we want in the images or things are going to get busy very quickly within the image.
Think, whites, blacks, beiges, creams, tans, light blues, light pinks, olive greens or earthy tones.
To really complicate things, I personally will try to stick to the tones within my home where I will hang the main images so it contrasts well within my home.
If we're on the beach, go for bare feet.
Things to AVOID: Stay away from logos or patterns, bright colours and bold prints and lean more towards neutral block colours/ tones and no sunglasses or caps/ hats - (sorry guys!)
Tip: Check your wrists for stray hair ties or sport watches (Watches are totally personal preferences but sometimes we forget to remove if we would rather be without). - note here, if you wear your watch full-time and have a bold tan line, its probably better to keep the watch on.
If you normally wear eyewear, but have an alternative (contact lenses) or can go without - please do! I will try my best to avoid or correct the glare that can be produced when wearing glasses, although this is not always avoidable, so know that if you do have glasses, we may not be able to have a sharp focus on your eyes.
Mama Bumps....
If we're at the beach, I will probably get you in the water at some point! If your comfortable, usually I will get you to wear a matching set of PLAIN underwear & Bra - go either all black or all white.
The classic unbuttoned jeans with a white crop and white button up shirt or a matching linen top and pants (Glassons have these all year around!) Timeless, simple and always look beautiful!
We're there to capture that beautiful baby bump, so body con dresses or dresses that easily accomodate the bump are also a great option. If your significant other is attending too, Keep them in plain neutral tones - As recommended in the General Section above.
Babies...
For baby’s outfit, try make sure it’s super simple and try to keep it to one solid colour with no distracting logos or pictures on it. Try not to overdress baby in lots of heavy layers, keeping it nice and simple so we can see every inch of how perfect baby is!
Kiddies...
Making sure the kids are comfortable is super important. At the same time, boosting their confidence with a feel good outfit can sometimes make all the difference in allowing your chid to come out of their shell in an otherwise sometimes overwhelming situation (I promise my niche is making sure your child feels SO comfortable with me that we get a good glimpse of all their silliness and quirks). Let them wear their tutu's and cowboy boots if thats what they're going to show up in! A good tip is to put little bike shorts on under skirts/ dresses - I mostly always run, jump and skip about with the kids so this makes sure we don't get any undies in the pictures.
